Kestner China Head Doll w/ Molded Necklace #178-30

Status: Available Price: $1,395.00
Description:
Extremely rare early china head doll made by the German firm of Kestner with molded blue and white beaded necklace. Made in Germany c. 1860. She is 21" tall and has a very beautiful face expertly executed with a smiling mouth and a white space between her lips. She has her original cloth body, and I can see horsehair stuffing. Her fingers are stitched. She wears an early blue and white striped dress trimmed with lace at the bodice and an early white apron feather stitched by hand in red at the bottom and silk stockings. This doll with molded necklace has been fully documented by Mary Krombholz in her book "Identifying German Chinas 1840's -- 1930's" and in her article in the August issue of Antique Doll Collector Magazine and is extremely rare. Very nice condition with no breaks, repairs or hairlines on the china shoulderhead.
