Miniature of Degas Ballerina from Maynard Manor #182-09 SOLD

Status: Sold
Description:
This lovely miniature version of the famous Degas ballerina statue (one full size example is at the Museum D'Orsay in Paris) was originally in the front hall of Maynard Manor belonging to John Blauer. I have had it in my collection since Maynard Manor was sold in 2001. The statue is heavy metal, possibly copper, as copper color can be seen in her costume. The high base is wood, hand painted to look like marble. I believe it is most likely from the 1950's. The ballerina by herself is 3 1/4" high and the base alone is 3" high, making the total 6 1/4". The statue is in great condition. Would make a fine display in a miniature setting. John Blauer's collections and Maynard Manor were well known in the miniature world and were written up in numerous miniature magazines.
