Description:
Very early leather bound book with gold gilt outlining and gold gilt decorations along the spine, as shown. Small Rain Upon the Tender Herb was published in London, c. 1830. The edges of the pages are also gold gilt. It has too many pages to count and each one has Biblical passages for every day of the year. Written inside in beautiful script George Cornelius Williams born Dec. 8th 1839, This book given to him by his father on his birth Day. Size is 1" wide by 1 1/4" high. I have researched this book and the year of publication, c. 1830, was deduced from the research--the same book 21st edition was published in 1845; the 16th edition was published in 1835 and this is the 14th edition thereby making this sometime around 1830. Really nice condition, especially for its age. Also pictured on a one-inch scale desk for size comparison. Would be perfect for a very early dollhouse.
