Description:
What a fantastic, very early ivory domino game complete with it's orginal black leather case with a domino tile embossed in gold on the top. This set is very early, c. 1885--1890, or perhaps even earlier. The tiles, which are also sometimes referred to as bones, are hand cut and hand painted. This is a complete domino set of tiles consisting of 28 pieces. The case is made from early leather, exquisitely worked and very soft and the interior is also finely finished. A snap closes the case. One of the photos shows an early white label with red outlining attached to the inside cover and written in early fountain pen what looks to be initials, perhaps of the store it was sold in. This is in beautiful condition showing minimal wear. Would be perfect for a lady doll. Size is 2 7/8" long x 1 3/4" wide. Rare and beautiful.
